Dziugas is a hard Lithuanian cheese aged 36 months with a strong, tangy flavor and a slight sour aftertaste. The cheese is very crumbly covered with white calcium crystals. It is made with only 4 ingredients: milk, salt, lactic acid bacteria cultures, coagulating enzyme. Dziugas long-ripening cheeses are lactose-free, rich in calcium and magnesium. The taste, color, smell and texture of the cheese evolve during the maturation process - the more mature the more crumbly, and it contains no additives, preservatives or flavor enhancers.
